The Raven And His Master
A thick fog settles on the blood stained path
The raven looms over his master
Staring with crimson eyes of fire
Watching, waiting for his command
He is but a humble knight on the chess board
He can not move without the master's guide
Waiting for the words "check mate"
Then
His deeds are done
And he will collect his prize.
The master walks
Guided by the raven
In search of what he desires most
Revenge
What an ugly thing in the raven's flawless ruby eyes, revenge
One of mans many imperfections
But this is the raven's life
Though a hard one it is.
The devilish smirk of the raven,
The angry glair of the master,
The pristine stature of the raven,
And weak yet seemingly powerful one of the master
Coincide perfectly
As if they belonged
As if it were destiny
But destiny has a funny way of misleading its followers.
One would think after so much pain, bloodshed, and misfortune
The master would stop
There is no use of reaching his goal
Something lost can never return
But the master can't stop
Not now
Not yet
Not after everything that's happened
Not when the job is half done
All the while being lead by the collar that chokes him.
The raven shakes his head disapprovingly
Yet acceptingly
For he knows this is how humans are
And all he can do is as his master says
And all he can say is "yes my lord."
The master will use his pawns in the best way he can
And keep struggling to live on
Using every piece in his reach
And if the empty shells of the pawns pile up beneath the masters thrown
Once the king is gone
The game is over
The master will keep moving forward
And he will not regret a single step he takes.
The raven will follow his master
No matter were he goes
If his masters thrown crumbles
And magnificent crown rusts
Even if the empty shells of the pawns pile up
And the master is forced to lie on the decaying bodies
The raven will lie beside the master
And in till the last bell tolls
Until that time
They are in an eternal bond
The raven and his master.
