When she lost her sense of sight at the age of 14, she cried into his arms the whole night.

The doctor said it was only temporary, but she couldn't understand what the doctor was saying, scientific terms and 'I'm so sorry for your loss' and 'I wish you well's' blurry to her ears, were drowned by her furiously beating heart.

And after 10 years, she's still blind.

It's a bit crazy and amazing that when you lose one of your senses, your other senses enhance themselves to make up for the lost sensation.

She can recognize the soft scent of roses from his clothes when he holds her.

Feel his hands gently running across her hair.

Hear him murmuring words of comfort and sweet nothings in her ear.

And taste his tears as he cries for her.

She doesn't say anything about it, just holds him tight through the night. They hold each other for support, afraid that if they let go, both of them will fall into darkness. He is her rock, strong and firm, the one she can count on to brace the storms of life. She's thankful that she has a friend like him to count on, but in the dark corners of her mind someone whispers, "You'll never be good enough…" , and at that moment she's scared. She's too afraid of being selfish, of putting herself first, but she can't stop. With every soft touch and whisper, she feels herself falling for him. Needing him more than her sight, he is the fire in her soul, her will to fight.

She never says it out loud but she hopes he feels it.

She is blind without him.

He cries because it was his fault and he can't admit it. Not when she was still blind, if she pushes him away there will be no one to be there for her. He'll endure this charade of his, his pretty little lies building up and trapping him that he can't breathe. The only reason he doesn't tell her is because of his own selfishness and cowardice, he's too afraid of a future without her.

She's his eyes, making him see the brighter side of the world and the goodness in people. She's the one he follows, the bright warm light in his dark cold world. He doesn't care if he burn following the light, he's too reckless and impulsive when it comes to her, until her eyes regain their light, he will be selfish. He will move heaven and hell to follow her. She is his world, the center of his universe. As they lie down on this bed, he looks at the ring in his hand, sparkling softly under the moonlight; he's thinking about the things that could have been. He tells himself to wait for the right time, the right moment and when he goes for it, he thinks twice then backs away. He'll never rush her into doing things she isn't ready for yet, his heart won't take it if she says 'no'.

Without her, he's blind.
