Opening his eyes Ethan knew he was sick. "I can't be sick" he thought to himself. This was not a good day to be ill. The had word that there had been a major RTC and that everyone was needed up at the hospital to help out.

Climbing out of bed he struggled to keep his balance as he made his way to the bathroom to get ready. Looking in the mirror he could see how pale he was. There was no way he could go in like this and even if he did he wouldn't last 5 minutes before being sent home.

"Let's hope Caleb has already left to drop Matilda at day care and he won't see me like this" Ethan says quietly to himself. The problem with Caleb is that he is rather protective of his little brother ever since the van crash back in 2014. Praying he was alone he made his way downstairs. His worst nightmare came true when half way down he heard the giggling sounds of Matilda.

As he walked into the living area he turned his head so Cal would not see him. This was a bad idea as it made Cal instantly suspicious.

"You ok bro?" he asks concerned.

"Fine" Ethan replied. But he could tell Cal was not convinced.

"Look at me then. Ethan! Look at me" Cal repeats as Ethan slowly turns to face his brother.

"Nibbles you loom awful! What are you doing out of bed?" Cal asks as he pops his daughter in her high chair as walks over to Ethan.

"we are needed at work. More to the point, why is Matilda not at day care?" Ethan replies.

"She has a temp so I called her off day care and called Connie to let her know i couldn't be in. I reckon you should do the same.

"I need to keep busy Cal" Ethan tells him.

"I know but you are no gold to patients if you look worse than them" Cal says slightly chuckling.

"Ok fine. Can you call in though please. Voice kind of hurts" Ethan asks as he picks up Matilda and walks over to the couch. Sitting down he lies her on his chest and slowly feels himself drift off to sleep.

"Thanks Connie" Cal finishes as he hangs up and goes over to Ethan.

"All good Nibbles, just gotta let her know when we are back" he stops halfway and smiles. The sight was too sweet. Ethan laying fast asleep with Matilda sleeping soundly on his chest.

"Get better soon mate" Cal says as he leaves the living room quietly to let them sleep.
