Which is the coldest time of the year?

Most people would say that winter is the coldest time of the year, but I think that sprinig is colder.
At winter the snow covers everything in a fluffy white blanket, despite being cold to the touch it is warm.
It protects the sleeping seeds, the drowsy trees and the frozen earth in a soft embrace.
But spring tears it down without mercy, leaving the still weak and just woken earth unprotected.
Its still frozen body put to display against a cloudy, dark gray sky.

It has the harshest of rains, that chill you to the bone.
Enwrap you in a deafening silence, killing all sound but the drops of water that hit the ground without a care in the world.
Yet it plays the sound of nature like a pianists hitting the right keys.
Waking the flowers, trees, animals and the earth itself.
As it nonchalantly spreads, it still manages to wake the warmth in others.
It appears gloomy and doesn't care, but the earth greets it with its early gifts.
Flowers, leaf buds on the trees, songs of birds and even love in people hearts.
It bites back indifferent to all that.
I sometimes wonder why it gets the attention it has, even thought it acts so cold.

But I loved spring none the less.
The clear blue of the sky, still filled with the chill of the snow crystals, but ever so slightly warm when sunshine hits it.
A mesmerizing glow stretching over the world and when it's mixed with the soft pink sea of cherry blossoms, that delicately sail to the ground, carried by a warm breeze, my heart squeezes painfully.
It is so painfully beautiful and foreign that I feel I will never understand it completely.

Yet that is the spring I came to love. That is Haru.
