Not Pig-Chicken

"Come on, it'll be fun!"

"No."

"You've done it before."

"And I hated every second of it."

"Yeah, but this time it'll be fun."

"No means no, Twinkletoes."

Sigh. "Fine," he said with a heartbroken tone in his voice as he walked away. For a moment, Toph felt guilt stab take over her heart.

"Sokka said you would be too pig-chicken to do it..."

The guilt vanished.

"WHAT??!!"

He looked over his shoulder at her. "Oh, he just said that you would be too pig-chicken to try it." The matter-of-factly tone of his voice was driving her crazy. "I told him that that's not true. Sigh. But I guess I was wrong," he said and started to walk away again.

The metalbender's rage colored her young face a deep red. "Like hell you are! Let's go Twinkletoes!" She grabbed his hand and forcibly dragged him behind her. She didn't notice the large grin that covered the airbender's face.

Toph's grip on the Avatar's throat became even tighter as Aang directed the glider to fly even higher. "Toph," he said in a raspy voice, "I can't breathe..."

Toph was too busy being terrified at being cut off from her natural element to hear Aang suffocating. Totally blind and aware that she was flying very high and the only thing keeping her from a long fall and a sudden stop was Aang, Toph wrapped her arms even tighter around his thin neck.

"Toph, you need to relax."

"Relax?! How can I relax when I'm completely blind and flying hundreds of feet in the air?!"

Toph, scared beyond imagination, wrapped her small legs around Aang's waist. He blushed, not expecting the sudden intimate contact.

"Toph!"

She buried her face in his shoulder, terrified beyond belief. Her cheek rubbed against his and Aang decided that he rather liked the feeling. Toph's hair blew in his face, and without meaning to, Aang took in some of her scent. Her smell was a pleasant mixture of dirt and metal. Very...Toph.

"Toph," he said in a more relaxed tone. "You need to calm down. Once you do, then you'll see that flying is not to so bad."

She didn't respond or dig her face out of his shoulder.

"You can trust me. I won't let anything happen to you."

She didn't say anything, but Toph's grip on Aang loosened a little and she looked at him. Her milky green eyes looked right at him with a vulnerability that Toph rarely let cross her features.

"You better not!" And just like that, it was gone.

"If you let me fall, the Fire Lord will be the last thing you'll have to worry about!"

"Don't worry, I got you," he said with a smile. "I promise."

They flew high and fast over the land. Cut off from the element that gave her her 'sight' and completely blind, Toph had every reason to be afraid. But she wasn't. Because she knew Aang wouldn't let go. Ever.

I hope that the sweetness of this lame fluffy fic hasn't given you diabetes.

This is the result of boredom, taang amv's, and some good avatar fanfics.
