Leonardo awkwardly sat down in front of the little girl, his eyes continuing to dart to the mutagen that sat to his left. The little girl beamed, pleased she could get a...guest...? like him to join her for tea time. What will his brothers think?
Though, after a moment of pretend with the girl who he still couldn't recall her name if she had given it to him, the play time itself actually wasn't as bad as he thought. Growing up with all males, suddenly playing with a little girl was a bit...refreshing from all of the wrestling and violence that constantly went on in the lair.
"Mr. Turtle?" Leonardo found himself lost in thought.
"Mr. Turtle?" The room had dolls, flowers, everything a little girl could ask for. Nothing that stood out to him that he was used to, like pinball machines, a punching bag, comics…
"Daddy?" Leonardo was snapped from his thoughts and he gazed down to find, instead of the little girl he had once met all those years ago, he now gazed at the face of his five year old daughter, Miwa.
The little girl looked at him, her nose ridge crinkled with confusion and worry. In her hand sat a small tea cup, her three fingers struggling to hold it just as he did all those years ago. And still did, to be honest.
"Daddy, are you okay?" Miwa's voice was high and reminded him so much of the little girl in his youth. Her dark hair was in a short braid and when he gazed into her eyes, he saw Karai's eyes. Well, their shape. But behind her very short, dark eyelashes, his blue eyes popped out at him. It was a stunning mix that he nor Karai honestly expected from her.
Leonardo smiled and took a sip of the juice in his tea cup before setting it down. "Of course, honey. Just thinking back to when I was a kid is all."
Miwa smiles at him and pours him more juice. It was funny how he's now able to relive that moment all over again, how funny it is now how he thought he'd never have tea time again but now has the opportunity to all the time with his own daughter.
In chairs next to them, stuffed animals ranging from actual animals to dolls sat beside them, including a Captain Ryan doll he had given her one Christmas. His t-phone goes off beside him and he glances down at the caller ID: Donnie.
Leonardo sighed and answered the phone despite getting annoyed looks from his daughter. "I hope this is important, Donnie."
"We have a robbery out on 5th. Raph and Mikey are already on it, but we might need some back up."
Leonardo sighed and looked over at Miwa who only held sadness in her eyes, knowing her dad would have to leave.
"...I'll be there in five, go ahead and start without me if need be."
"Got it."
The phone beeped and Leonardo tucked it into his belt strap, sighing and standing up.
"Sorry, honey. Daddy has to get going on a mission. I promise we'll continue this tomorrow, okay?"
Miwa only nodded and Leonardo felt his heart sink. He passed her chair and placed a kiss on the top of her head. The girl beamed, her eyes crinkling with happiness and instant forgiveness. Leonardo headed for the pink door and stopped, a thought creating a smile on his lips.
"Next time, I'll bring the tea."
He looked over at Miwa and she grinned, holding her tea cup to her body. "I love you, daddy. Stay safe, okay? Don't make mommy angry again."
Leonardo chuckled and began to shut the door. "I promise I will, kiddo. I promise I will." And with that, he shut the door and headed for the window of their apartment to disappear into the night, still amused that a moment in his youth could suddenly spark so many important memories for him with a little girl of his own.
