I never wanted nothin' more
Summertime was finally here
"Hey girl", he said in his deep southern voice, "Whatcha doing later on?"
"Hey Luke, I'm not sure yet?" I said.
Hey replied: Let's go, let's leave, There's a whole wide world for our eyes to see
I was scared but thought, "I gotta get me some of that"
Before I could reply, he said "If you're ready to roll girl, just let me know girl"
I nodded, Like I was nodding right along to a song on the radio.
We went out to his truck, a yahoo bottle on the floor board.
Over the radio he screamed, "Climb on up… And hold on tight 'cause it's gonna be wilder Than any eight second ride".
For one reason or another, I wasn't scared anymore. The only thought consuming me was "I don't want this night to end".
We drove for a little while and he looked over at me and smiled: He said, Welcome
to the farm.
He followed that up with a compelling statement: "One of these days, Were gunna have to grow up, Have to get real jobs and be adults, someday, Just not today.
And just like that,
We were caught up in a Southern summer, a barefoot, blue jean night.
I never wanted nothin' more.
