I know you know me. You do right?

I am Kudo Shinichi, a famous high-school detective.

My life had been pretty great, really, before that tragic day happened.

I got shrunk by a weird poison and my identity had changed to Edogawa Conan.

Before that happened, I knew I was in-love.

In-love with my best friend.

I was in-love with a beautiful, kind-hearted girl. The ideal girl of my dreams. A girl that could make me happy at my miserable days, a girl with a smile that shone above others.

That way, she got me. She stole my heart with the good nature she had.

But that tragic day happened. There was no way I could reverse it.

And that was all because of her.

The other her. The maker of that damn poison that shrunk me.

If I were the one to choose, I'd never wanted her in my life.

But it already happened and I needed her to create the antidote for this cursed poison.

I wanted to return as Kudo Shinichi and to be with the one that I've loved.

So I needed to protect this evil-eyed girl.

I'd just protect her because I still need her okay? Don't get me wrong.

Like I would like her anyway. With that cold exterior of hers and her overflowing sarcasm, just no way.

She was nothing compared to my best friend.

(Silence)…

Sigh.

But fate really had a weird way on working things out.

I was able to see the great sides of her.

Maybe she was cold but she has a warm, caring heart.

Maybe she was sarcastic but she was only being like that to avoid further questions that could lead in opening her dark past.

And despite of her dark past, she was doing her best to help me.

You know, she could ran away and leave me like this.

But she didn't. She was a real friend. She was my new best friend.

I could never, ever compare her to others.

She was exceptional.

Now, she was here in front of me. She looked up and smiled at me.

I felt a jolt in my heart at the sight of her smiling face…

Then I knew that fate somehow managed to change my heart too.

It was not my fault.

"Do you have a problem, Edogawa-kun? You've been staring at me for about 1 minute and 15 seconds."

The way she talked at me made me smile for no reason. "Nothing… Haibara."
