A/N- I'm such a cheater (; I haven't even seen this movie yet! The idea inspired me though, and so I wrote a little poem-esque thing about Nina and her obsession with perfection. Enjoy!

Disclaimer- Not at all.

Tangled up in dreams you have no right to be dreaming about, you inhale and exhale and twitch uncomfortable beneath the fluorescent light. Suddenly, you're a teenager trying on bathing suits and nothing fits right and nothing is perfect. You have always hated things that weren't perfect.

You rise to your toes and stretch out your legs tall, gliding over the stage with your eyes never leaving your prince's, your feet never leaving the stage. Straightening up, you can feel a jab of pain in your stomach and all you can think is perfectperfectperfect.

(I'm going to be perfect. What else can I be?)

Heart pumping more blood than it should, nerve endings in your brain dying faster than usual; you purse your lips and go for the grand finale.

(The Swan is supposed to die. She is supposed to die, you hear?)

But she won't go down without a fight. Stabbing and clenching, everything floods back to you and the gaping wound at your belly button matches the gaping wound in your heart. The other dancers leave. You are left alone.

You did perfect tonight, and you know it. You felt it.

You want to kiss him again. You want to hug her again. Thomasthomasthomas... Lilylilylily... but you're too far gone. Suddenly, you think you want to die. Suddenly, you think you'd rather live.

(Did you ever really live at all?)

Man cannot live until one is perfect.

Perfect... you're not perfect. You're plucked, peppered, served on a silver platter because in some countries, swan is saved for dessert. You're the best part of the meal. But you're not really a swan at all.

She's the swan. The one out to kill, steal, and destroy (and you think there might be another character that wants to do just that as well, but you can't think of his name, or if it's even a he at all.)

You have no idea if she's really a swan at all. Swans are supposed to be beautiful creatures. Perfect creatures.

("You want to be the swan now?" she says.)

More than anything.
