A/N: M'kay, peeps, I'm sorry for the huge wait on Dark Desire's, but I've reached writers block, so I'm taking a small break. Not to worry, I should have updated by at least next Monday. Thanks for your patience. Sorry about this, but I needed to edit this a little bit. Again, sorry, and feel free to suggest ideas.

Five Times Naruto Died

Number one-

Sasuke had shoved the chidori through his chest, believing with the faith of a child that never grew up that Naruto would be ok, that it would miss his heart despite the fact that he aimed there.

Unfortunately, people were wrong, and there was damage that the Kyuubi couldn't heal. This was it. Sasuke watched in shock and horror as the only person he gave a damn about died.

Just before he did, he dropped to his knees and pressed his lips to Naruto's in apology, their second and last kiss tasting of the anger and bitterness that flowed from their eyes.

Sasuke stood up, and his eyes grew cold. Without Naruto, Konoha was destroyed within months, and Orochimaru killed by Sasuke, who had killed his brother right after Naruto, with the Mangekyo Sharingan, which was stronger than his brothers, having just been activated.

When he was announced Hokage of the conquered Leaf, he smiled bitterly and muttered, "I hope you realize this is for you dobe."

Number Two-

Naruto allowed his lips to curve into a triumphant smile, even as blood dripped from the hole in his stomach.

"You have an honorable death, Uchiha Itachi," he whispered to the dying man next to him.

"Never again will you worry about your village's safety. Be happy." He saw Sasuke drop from a tree in front of him, and bared his teeth in a bloody grin, well aware that his eyes were red.

This had proven how well he knew Sasuke. "You hurt me Sasuke, so I hurt you the only way I could."

With that, he died, leaving Sasuke never knowing whether he meant that he killed his brother, or that he'd basically killed himself.

Number Three-

Naruto cried out in pain as the villagers cut him open time and time again. This time, there was no Anbu to threaten them with Ibiki, and this had proven, once and for all, that even the elite of the elite could be bribed.

Kyuubi howled in fury and disbelief, fury that they were making his vessel feel so much pain, and disbelief that the greatest of the tailed beasts was going to die from a pathetic village that couldn't even tell a demon from a young boy.

When Naruto died, the bribed Anbu showed that ninja were as crafty as they were portrayed, by quickly killing them.

Unfortunately, the Anbu wasn't as good at lying as he thought.

Number Four-

Naruto gaped in horror at the sight before him, before he sprinted off in search of his lover and captain, Uchiha Itachi.

He was careful to not step on or move any of the Uchiha bodies, and, in some small part of his mind, he was screaming at himself to stop, that this just wasn't right, but he ignored his instincts in favor of finding Itachi.

Unfortunately, he never got the chance, as he was struck from behind, killed immediately.

Unfortunately for Itachi, there had been no Kyuubi to kill the Yondaime Hokage, and he was far stronger than Itachi could dream.

And unfortunately for Itachi, he had just killed his son.

Number Five-

Naruto gave a bitter smile, ignoring the pounding on the door, and made sure that Kyuubi was aware that he was not to be healed, and then he jammed the kunai in his throat, in his jugular to be precise.

When the jutsu on the door was finally overpowered, he was already dead.

Sakura screamed, tears streaming down her face as she howled, "I didn't mean it!"

Her voice dropped to a whisper as she said, "I didn't want you to die."
