From the Depths of Dark Despair

Loneliness engulfs me like a wave upon the sea

All these emotions swell across an unmarked boundary

Numbness quickly follows, an end to all the pain

Nothing left to live for and nothing left to gain

I stare across a vast expanse of myriad sparkling stars

In a dark infinity of jeweled sparkling shards

The sands of time spill silently into the hourglass

Time twists and churns and I am left with memories of the past

I see you the first time we met, your eyes as hot as fire

Eyes that left me so confused, but smoldering with desire

We finally fell together after passion long denied

But it was so much more than that; you filled me up inside

Misfortune ever plagued our path and ill luck dogged our steps

No longer hours of innocent pleasure but instead hours of death

Your life was taken from me, sundering the whole

Only one half remaining, loss splintering my soul

I have responsibilities here, or else I would have come

Embraced the Shadow-Lover, and made our two halves one

But I cannot, so here I sit, inside my private hell

Embraced wholly by dark despair and fragile as a shell

But someday in the far future, in battle I'll be killed

My life will then draw to its close, my destiny fulfilled

Leaning on your shoulder, leave this interminable night

From the depths of dark despair, with you into the light
