Ezra walked down the ramp to see Kanan sitting there, staring blankly at the horizon. "Master?" Ezra asked cautiously. Kanan glanced up, before returning his attention to the sunrise. "Oh, hey Ezra," he mumbled.
Ezra went and sat next to Kanan, vacant teal eyes shifting to him slightly. An electric blue gaze exchanged with aquamarine as Ezra asked "Is this about that whole sith lord thing?"
At the mention of the robotic nightmare, Kanan rubbed his shoulder where a burn mark still remained. "It's just… what if I didn't get there in time?" he sighed. "If I was one second later he would have…" He trailed off, suddenly finding the horizon interesting again.
"Hey, but he didn't. I'm still here aren't I?" Ezra smiled, trying to lighten the mood.
He smirked and nudged the teen's shoulder gently. "Yeah, I guess so," he chuckled, though a hint of doubt still lingered in his mind.
It was silent for a moment, until Ezra stood up and suggested "Why don't we train?"
Kanan shook his head. "Sorry Ezra, but I'm not really in the mood for teaching," he sighed.
An awkward silence descended upon the two, until Ezra started to hum. Kanan raised a brow, wondering if he was actually hearing his padawan or if he was going crazy. What happened next surprised the jedi more.
"Oh Master, remember when," Ezra sung. "You would train with me, will you do it again? Oh Master, remember how, I would fight by your side, well how 'bout it now?" Kanan was extremely surprised as Ezra continued his little melody.
"Oh Master, I keep wondering why, as I get older now that days just keep going by. Oh master, remember this too?" Ezra smirked, holding up his lightsaber and an empty milk carton. Kanan smiled, remembering the first time they trained together. "In all of space, there's no one like you."
"There's no one like you," he continued, walking down into the clearing they were parked at.
Ezra glanced over his shoulder, watching his master expectantly. Surprisingly, the man stood up and hummed along to Ezra's tune. "Oh Padawan, I remember when, I would protect you, and I would do it again." Kanan bent down, picking up a few pebbles while grinning at Ezra. "Precious child, remember this too? In all of space, there's no one like you."
Ezra ignited his lightsaber, getting into a defensive stance. "Youuuu," they both sung in sync just before Kanan threw a rock, quickly getting deflected by Ezra. They both smiled, the morning rays shining on the sides of their face as they trained together, master and padawan.
"Youuuu."
"Youuuu."
