I thought it'd be fun to write a short Ranger/Steph conversation where the POV isn't clearly defined. All characters belong to Janet.
"What are you prepared to do for me, Babe?"
"Depends on what your answer would be to the same question."
"Are we at a stalemate?"
"Nope. Unless my instincts are wrong ..."
"They never are, Steph."
"I'm glad more than one of us sees that now."
"What are your instincts telling you about us?"
"That I'm prepared to do anything for you because you've already done everything for me."
"Are you talking about the job?"
"Yep ... but also about us off the field, too. You manned up and said you loved me way before I could even contemplate loving you. And it's about time I grow a pair and admit that there isn't anything you can ask that I won't do because I actually do love you. I finally figured out that Joe had been my training wheels for something bigger and badder."
"And better."
"Definitely better. So I'll help you go get Scannon, and then you can help me get over the last of my commitment issues by agreeing to one."
"Consider the latter already done."
That's all the promise we need for now ... is what I knew we were both thinking.
