***Ryan's POV***

He breathed deeply. He was awake but he did not open his eyes. This was one of those moments when he just wanted to stay still. As he lay there, he tried to recall where he was. He felt the closeness of another body; a warm feeling that his arms were wrapped around. Suddenly, he remembered where he was. His eyes opened slowly.

'Oh God'. He was on the hide-a-way sofa, with his arms wrapped around Marissa. He was spooning with Marissa Cooper. His mind raced as he tried to figure out what to say, or what to do. 'Is she awake?' As uncomfortable as it would be to get up and face the reality of what he was doing, he realized that this was actually a really good place to be. How long had he wanted to be this close to her? He savored it a moment, and then he unhooked his hands from hers, and rolled over.

***Marissa's POV***

Her eyes fluttered open from a nightmare. He looked in the direction she was facing and saw the ugly blue colored wall of the cheap motel in Tijuanna. Momentarily she wondered if Ryan had gotten up yet, but to her surprise he was right there. Actually, he was closer than he was before. She liked it. Smiling a little, she just stayed there a while, savoring the feeling of him that close to her. He was so sweet when he wanted to be.

She also noticed that, Ryan's embrace was somehow different than Luke's. Luke would never purposely do something like this. He was never that caring or attentive. Ryan was different. Ryan stirred behind her, and she was a little disappointed when he removed his hands from hers and moved back to his side of the bed.

***Ryan's POV***

He looked at her, and gave a half smile.

"Sorry," he started. He apologized even though he wasn't sorry.

"It's okay." She smiled back reassuringly.

***Marissa's POV***

"It's okay." She smiled back reassuringly. She already hated getting up. At least lying there, she could pretend that nothing had happened between her parents, and things weren't touch and go with Luke.

***Ryan's POV*** "You know, I understand this whole---um---parent situation. My parents never really---so I could probably---I mean, I'm---." What was he doing stumbling around trying to talk to her?

"Thanks." She replied, tucking a hair behind her ear and getting up to shower.

He sighed. 'I don't know if I'll ever get anything right with that girl.'
