Breaking Point
"FELIX! FELIX YOU USELESS LUMP GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW SO I CAN TORCH YOU TO CINDERS! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"
At that moment, Felix was running as fast as his legs could carry him away from his homicidal, maniacal sister. For he had committed a horrible crime against her. So horrible, it was to be punished by death by burning. What did poor Felix do to deserve such a fate?
He ate one of her cookies.
Actually, they weren't really her cookies; they were all in the cookie jar! The jar for everyone, as Felix had so kindly reminded her when she discovered him with chocolate chip remnants on his fingers. But Jenna would hear none of it. Instantly she was enraged.
"Felix…did you eat one of my cookies?"
"Those cookies are for everyone, Jenna. That's why they're in the jar."
A vein throbbed in Jenna's forehead. "You mean MY cookies?"
"No, I mean EVERYONE'S cookies. And yes, I did eat one of them. So what?"
Felix knew that when Jenna didn't look visibly angry, she was really, intensely mad. She looked at him, calmly, coolly, and gave him her patented "I'm going to count to three and by one you'd better be running" glances.
Before Jenna could blink Felix was gone.
He stopped, thinking he was a safe enough distance away from Jenna. Imagine his surprise, then, when a bush burst into flames not two feet away from him.
"Eep!" Felix yelped as he hopped away from the burning bush. (A/N: no, it didn't start speaking to him and telling him to free the Israelites from the Egyptians0
Jenna emerged from behind it. "Now, big brother, you know what the punishment is for eating one of my cookies."
"Actually, I don't, care to refresh my memory?"
By this time, Sheba, Piers, and Mia had all gathered to watch the carnage ensue. They knew Felix was being a smartass, and he sure as hell wasn't going to get away with it.
Jenna growled, looking very much like a saber-toothed tiger. "DRAGON FUME!" she boomed as she raised her staff to burn Felix to a crisp.
But, amazingly, no fiery dragon appeared to smite her brother. "Huh? Oh, don't tell me I don't have enough Psynergy!"
Felix smirked. "Wow, Jenna, it looks like you don't have enough Psynergy."
Jenna howled. "SERPENT FUME!" This time, the spell worked, and a great serpent made out of flames leapt from her hands and engulfed Felix in a fiery doom.
Piers, Sheba, and Mia gasped. They then started applauding Jenna, for fear of what she might do to them if they didn't congratulate her.
"Wow, Jenna, that was a good one," said Sheba rather nervously. "He should be quite crispy."
The four Adepts were shocked, however, when Felix stood up after the blow. Jenna was quite bamboozled. "That should've knocked him out for sure! Why is he standing?"
Piers and Mia rushed forward to heal some nasty-looking burns on his shoulder, but Felix held up his hand. He then looked at his sister with a very evil smile on his face.
"Uh, Felix? I'm sorry! Really! I won't try to burn you to death ever again!"
"You know, Jenna, a person can only handle so much burning. And then they reach their breaking point. It's really interesting to watch someone who's reached their breaking point."
"Um…big brother? What are you doing? Oh no…AAAAAAIIEEEEEE!"
Several minutes later, Jenna was laying propped up on the couch with some very nasty cuts on her arms and a bad limp.
"Alright, Felix, I'm sorry I Serpent Fumed you. But did that Odyssey really have to be so strong?"
