Point Pleasant's Halloween Claim-to-Fame
~oOo~
Ranger's POV
It was seven o'clock on Halloween, and Steph, Lester, and I were driving back from Frenchtown, just north of Point Pleasant, where we had successfully picked up a skip. The guy was in the other SUV with Bobby, Cal, and Hector, and they were heading to TPD, while we were going straight to RangeMan.
When we got to the Point Pleasant city limits, Steph suddenly shouted for me to stop.
I whipped the SUV off to the side of the road and turned to look at her. "Babe?" I asked in a serious voice.
"There's a haunted house here! Look at the sign up there! It says it's the largest in three counties! Ranger, we have to go," she said excitedly.
"Babe," I groaned. "You yelled while I was driving because of that?"
"What? I was excited! You know how much I love Halloween. You're the one that dragged me out into the middle of nowhere to help distract the skip. Then it turned out you didn't even need me, right, Les?"
She smirked at him, and I watched his face turn red as he covered his crotch, remembering the passes the guy had made.
I shook my head, chuckling. "Babe, you never disappoint. What about it, Santos? You up for some haunted house action?"
"Only if Beautiful will hold me when I get scared..." He grinned. "I need the reassurance of my masculinity."
"Yeah, getting scared of the widdle haunted house is really going to prove your masculinity," Steph joked.
He glared at her, which only set off her giggling. The ringing of my phone caused the two of them to quiet down instantly.
"Yo."
"Hey, Boss. Problem?" Bobby asked, calling from the other vehicle.
"You guys go ahead. Looks like we're stopping at the haunted house before heading home."
"Gotcha. See you back at RangeMan."
I hung up and looked at Steph. "Well, Babe, where is the thing?"
"Just follow the arrows, Ranger. See the bright orange ones? You can't miss 'em."
She bounced in her seat, and even Lester had the beginnings of a huge grin on his face as I drove off toward the first orange arrow.
Silly haunted house, here we come, I thought to myself. Whoopee.
