Things you need to know: 1) Phillip is adorable (obviously) and 2) he's 4 and a half 3) I made Alexander a little mean don't be offended
"Phillip! You've been coddled up in your room all day!", said Eliza picking Phillip up and hugging him tight, "How about you go play outside?", suggested Eliza.
Phillip giggled as Eliza carried him outside next to their fountain. "Have fun Philly!", smiled Eliza and put him down, "I'll be inside if you need me."
The little toddler smiled and nodded. "Okay, Mommy."
Phillip played with the strands of grass on the ground, almost anything amused him at this age. Phillip hardly ever went outside, so everything was new to him. He was amazed.
Phillip began to smell the pretty flowers when something bright caught his eye. Phillip turned around to see a bright, colorful butterfly, flying close to him. "OOOOH!",exclaimed Phillip. "Butta fly!", he reached for the butterfly but it fluttered its wings and began to fly away. "Aww.", said the disappointed child. Phillip got up and started to chase the butterfly.
"Don't go away!", exclaimed the sad child. "Wanna be friends?", asked Phillip. The butterfly continued to fly away and Phillip frowned. Phillip continued to chase the butterfly.
The butterfly flew in place, then landed onto Phillip's fingers. Phillip beamed, and slowly let go. Phillip took his little hands and cupped the butterfly in his tiny palms. Phillip giggled as the butterfly flapped its wings trying to free itself, tickling his fingers.
"I'll show papa!", Phillip exclaimed. Phillip really wanted to make his dad proud, since he looked up to him. He used his elbows to open the door, and ran inside. "Papa, papa look!", said Phillip, "Da butta fly!",Phillip ran to Alexander's office. The door to the office was wide open, so Phillip ran in. "Papa, look.", said Phillip with great pride.
"Awesome wow.", said Alexander, still writing away, not even bothering to turn around.
"Papa?", asked Phillip. He was confused since he didn't even open his hands yet to reveal the butterfly.
"That's great Phillip, now run along. I'm busy."
"Pa-"
"PHILLIP CAN'T YOU SEE IM WORKING?", snapped Alexander, and wiped the ink off his desk with his shirt, "Leave me alone, maybe your mother has time to spend with you.",he said focused on work.
Phillip's eyes filled with tears, and ran out of the room.
"Alexander!", yelled Eliza, "Stop and pay attention to your freaking son! You made your son cry just because your essay isn't finished?"
"Eliza I'm very busy, I don't have time."
"Your missing our son grow up! He's 4 and a half already and yesterday you thought he was still 2 years old!", growled Eliza.
"Well I don't have time, I just need to get my plans through congress, that's my only goal in life!"
"Well that's a shame.", sighed Eliza, and shook her head. Eliza walked out, and slammed the door.
"Eliza-"
She walked out to see Phillip sitting on the floor crying. Eliza could feel herself soften at the awful sight.
"Aw Philly...",said Eliza and scooped her son in her arms, "I'm sorry.. please don't cry."
"H-He... d-didn't even... c-care..", cried Phillip. Phillip cried into Eliza's shoulder. "Shh..", soothed Eliza, "It's okay." Phillip's cries softened, until they turned into little hiccups.
"Can you show me?", asked Eliza.
Phillip walked outside and Eliza followed. Phillip opened his hands and the butterfly flew out of his palms, Phillip smiled, "Da butta fly!"
"Aww!", exclaimed Eliza. She felt her heart smile when he said "Da butta fly!"
"Too bad papa missed it", sighed Phillip, "I want him to love me.."
Eliza sighed,"He does, he's just very busy... he'll warm up to you soon though, I promise. But in the meantime, I'm here for you Philly."
Phillip hugged Eliza tight, "Tank you"
Eliza giggled again at his cuteness, "Your welcome."
