DISCLAIMER: I don't own LOST but I so wish I did! The lyrics belong to The Fray but the ideas are mine!!!

He didn't know why, but there was that one person that made his day. She was always right in front of him. He tried to remember what Kate looked like, all the time. He began to wonder why and how he could ever be in love with any one other than her. There was never any contest for who was better. Juliet had only killed someone when it was really needed, or lied except to save the people she loved.

And all at once the crowd begins to sing. Sometimes the hardest and the right thing are the same.

He looked back at Juliet with tears filling his eyes. He knew that no matter what, it was never going to work. They were so different and yet the same. He had to bite down on his lip to keep from running back to her and telling her that he loved her and that he was sorry for everything he had ever done to her.

Maybe you want her, maybe you need her. Maybe you started to compare to someone not there.

He swam, and with each graceful stroke of skin meeting water, he would think, "I need her. I need her." But with every thought, there was an undertone of, "but you want her. But you want her." He began to see himself compare her to Kate. Her smile, her laugh. Everything. But Kate wasn't there and Juliet was. If he could just remember that, maybe everything would be okay.

He spent all his life trying to find "the one." What was it that he had said to Kate so long ago? "I've never been in love," he could never say that again. Without a doubt he had fallen and fallen hard for both Kate and Juliet. Telling Juliet goodbye had wrenched his heart apart. He just needed to figure things out. She wouldn't wait; it wasn't in nature to wait for anyone. It would take much longer for him to figure it out than she had the patience to take.

And all at once he thinks it's over. He's done it now. But she brings him a kiss to let him know what it's all right. He can't do it, but he needs to. He's the only one that understands her. They've been through so much in so little time. They understand each other, almost as if they were the same person in different bodies.

He knew he wanted her, and yet he needed her. She was the glue that kept him together. He couldn't help but compare Kate and Juliet, she understood that. He was running from the fact that he had a commitment now. But he was saved with the fact that she was his and he was hers. He could continue through life with her by his side. All at once everything was different and yet everything stayed the same.

A/N: Please Review!!! It's been awhile since I've written a LOST fic so I don't know if it's any good or not!
