The Saiyans: Who They Were

Saiyans. Many know of them, but very few know much about them, and those who do know more either chose not to speak of them or are otherwise incapable of doing so. So, in the memory of a once mighty race, I have decided to write and publish everything I know about this once legendary warrior race. If you wish to know of these once mighty people, here it is. First fic, please review

Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, or Dragon Ball Super. Those are owned by Akira Toriyama, Funimation, Toei Animation, and probably many others.

What is the most powerful species in the universe? Many would say (for now at least) that title would belong to the Frost Demons (we think that's their name, anyway), whose most powerful members (Frieza, Cold, and Cooler) are capable of destroying both planets and anything in their orbits with only a modicum of effort. While many would argue on this, there was species that challenged the (these is what we will call the Frost Demons from now on) for this title. Who were they?

The Saiyans.

At their peak, the Saiyans were one of (if not the most) powerful species in the known universe and were easily the most talented warriors in existence, with a level of skill that even the most skilled of fighters would call legendary. Even the weakest, most pacifistic of their race had a higher power level than the average foot soldier in Frieza's army, and the strongest of the saiyans at least have the potential to surpass even the most elite of Frieza's armed forces. However, all of this, while astonishing, is moot.

Exactly three years (to the day this was written) ago that Planet Vegeta, the Saiyan homeworld, was destroyed by a meteor. What was once a proud people with a population of 4 billion, there are now only three survivors, all of whom are male.

The Saiyans are, effectively, extinct.

While a species may die, that doesn't mean that their identity have to do the same. In this work, we will talk about not only the history of this once great race, but their appearance, society and culture as well.

Now, in honor of the Saiyans, I present The Saiyans: Who They Were.

A/N: Hello everyone. This is the first fanfic I have ever even attempted, so please, criticize me as much as you can. I can only get better if I know what I'm doing wrong. Some of you may not be interested in something like this; some of you may even find this boring, but I have two good reasons for why I am writing this. 1.) I have always wondered what the Saiyans were like as a people, and since the only character in series who would know (Vegeta) isn't talking, I'm doing it myself. 2.) I am going to use this as a reference for any future dbz stories that I write, so if you see something that is inconsistent with what is said here, you can call me out so I can correct it if possible, or I explain why it had to happen if corrections aren't possible.

A/N: And before you ask, no, I don't know when the next chapter will be put up, as the time I start writing depends on things like time, my mood, or the next shiny object I see.
