"Charlie, I'm pregnant." Renee Lewis said to her high school sweetheart, Charles Swan.

Scratching the back of his neck awkwardly, Charlie began to process the information; he and Renee were in their senior year at Forks High. They hadn't even graduated yet in fact it was only February, based on the fact that the one time they'd had sex was after the Winter Dance, their baby should be born sometime around September.

"I told my parents but…they were really mad, they kicked me out," Falling into Charlie's arms Renee began to cry, "Oh Charlie, what am I gonna do?" Charlie patted her back awkwardly.

"I suppose we ought to get married." Renee released her grasp on the back of his shirt and pulled back wide-eyed. Tilting her face upward, she spoke.

"Charlie we can't get married – we're only eighteen!"

"My friend up in La Push, Billy, is married."

"But, that's different; he's Quileute, besides, isn't Billy twenty-one?"

"What else can you do? Being married isn't so bad – all that matters is that we love each other. I love you, and you love me too, right?" he said, trying to search her eyes.

Though she would never tell him, she wasn't actually in love with Charlie. The only reason they were together was because she never had the heart to reject him and her best friend, Sharon, said that they looked cute together. Charlie wasn't even ideal boyfriend material for her – Renee wanted someone exciting, someone who would get up off their butt and actually play sports instead of watching them on T.V., but most of all, she wanted someone who would rescue her from this rainy hellhole of a town.

But she didn't say any of this; instead Renee opted for a simple "Yeah." Watching her fingers fidget with the hem of her shirt, because she couldn't look Charlie in the eyes and lie – not this time – Renee was sick and tired of Forks Washington's never-ending cycle. You were born in Forks, lived in Forks, got married and had kids in Forks, then you died – in Forks. Right then, Renee promised herself right then that her baby wouldn't be subjected to the cycle…
