A/N: for Stalker of Stories' Recurring Dream challenge. Poor, poor Luna...

---

It was the kind of recurring dream that doesn't go away after a few times, yet doesn't occur often enough to be truly annoying. Every other Tuesday, ever since she was twelve, Luna Lovegood had the same dream. To call it crazy would be an understatement, but it was exactly the kind of thing her mind would come up with.

It always started the exact same way, with her eyes focused on a purpley-gray-colored hippopotamus singing a song from the musical Wicked. There was a pattern to what song it was - if things had gone well for Luna the previous day, the hippo sang "Popular"; if things had gone badly, it was "I'm Not That Girl". More often than not, it was the latter, which made Luna wonder why Muggles created such sad music - or why they bothered to create musicals in the first place!

After getting through a minute or two of its song, the hippo began to tango with a black, fluffy cat while continuing to sing. Other random pairs of animals joined in after the hippo had stopped singing, and the dream had music once more. In this part of the dream, though Luna had never consciously listened to it in her life, the song was "We're All In This Together", from something horrible that Luna couldn't remember the name of. After THAT ended, so did the dream.

Luna hoped no one else would ever have the dream, but the world wasn't that lucky. She didn't think she'd passed it on to her sons, until one afternoon when they were six. "Mum," Lorcan asked, "why would a hippopotamus want to be popular?"
