His sharp white teeth pierced the skin on my neck. "What you doing?" I shrieked. Pain ran through my whole body. I placed my hand on neck; it felt as though it was bleeding. "Why did you do that?" I clamoured. He stared at me with his innocent green eyes, then turned on his heel to walk away. "I'm sorry." I whispered. He turned around. "No, I'm sorry" he said in a calm voice.
We had decided in the early hours of that Saturday morning we could no longer be 'just friends'. From my first lesson with him in English, I knew there was something more behind his curious green eyes, and cheeky grin.
I remember standing in the doorway and the posh, slender English teacher with an Irish accent introduced me to the class saying: "Everyone! This is Ruby Kay she's moved up a set and is going to be a member of our class." I was told to sit in the empty seat at the back of the room, next to a boy with innocent green eyes.
I had only been in the room a matter of minutes and already my heart was hammering against my chest. I tried to compose myself as I slipped into the empty seat next to the boy as elegantly as possible. He reached out to move his possessions, they were strewn across the table. We brushed skin. 'Romeo and Juliet' seemed to affect me more than I thought it would. He dropped his pen on the floor and I bent down to pick it up. He touched my hand and I flinched. He smiled a cheeky grin, which revealed his cute dimples. I couldn't help but smile back. He was infectious.
As the bell rang pupils poured out of classrooms onto the corridor. I decided I would spend my lunch hour in the library. I sat down on one of the bean bags with a book I had read many times and removed my sandwich from my bag. I was up to the third chapter when a shadow stood over me. "Prom Date by Diana Hoh, good choice." said the males voice. I glanced up from the page I'd read over and over again. It was him! The boy who had touched my hand in English, but why was he talking to me? "Do you mind if I sit with you?" he asked.
"No, not at all." I blushed.
We sat in silence for a number of minutes. I read to the end of the page then turned to look at him. His eyes were fixed on me. "Did you want something?" I asked. It took him a few moments to realise I had stopped reading. "Just friendship." he replied in a daze. I laughed. I'd never been friends with a boy before; come to think of it I'd never had friends before. "Don't you already have friends?" I asked him in a confused tone. He smiled again. "Yes, I do, but I'd like to be friends with you as well." I smiled back.
"Okay, sure."
In the few weeks that followed I met his other friends and learnt that boy's sports were truly pointless and football players earned ridiculous amounts of money (one of the main things boys talked about.) Also I found out that the boy with the innocent green eyes real name was Thomas James or as he was now known to me, TJ. We were inseparable.
If we weren't together we spoke on the phone, or emailed each other. Having a friend totally changed my look on life. I had something to do at weekends other than stay at home and study or read. Life was perfect.
He'd invited me to a picnic in the local wood. I offered to drive in my Red Nissan Micra, however he would not accept my offer saying "I'm not travelling in a jelly mould." This offended me but i admitted my defeat.
We placed our blanket and basket under a canopy of trees and led down and watched the clouds roll by. My head was placed on his chest listening to his steady heartbeat. "I love you." I whispered. His heartbeat quickened. "I love you too." he said in a shy manner.
As we walked back to civilisation I felt his arm clasp around my waist, and he turned me around to face him and he sweetly kissed my lips, then my neck. That is when it happened. He bit me!
