A/N: I've only read the first book, so my knowledge of the Twilight fandom isn't very extensive. I still hope you guys enjoy, though! I want to get better with this, so if you guys have any constructive (not mean) criticism, send it my way!
Carlisle frowned as he looked down at Esme, who was resting comfortably in his arms.
He could tell from the expression on his beloved's face that something was bothering her.
"What's wrong, darling?" he questioned.
"I'm worried about Edward," Esme sighed, as she tossed her long, dark hair back over her shoulders.
"Nothing to worry about, my love," Carlisle whispered soothingly. "He and Bella will be fine. They'll take good care of each other."
"But James—," Esme began, before her husband cut her off by placing a finger to her lips.
"James has been taken care of," the man said, as he gently stroked his lover's cheek. Smiling faintly, he propped himself up on one elbow as he spoke.
"No need to worry, Esme," the fair-haired man reassured. "Wherever they are, they're going to be okay. I promise."
Esme sighed a little, but didn't protest.
It was in her nature to be concerned, but she also knew that her husband's reassurances were correct. And so she tried to push it all out of her mind.
It still didn't stop her from worrying.
