Deb's eyes met so briefly with Frank's as they lay on the pavement, each having just been shot. She watches the life go out of his eyes as they just stare now, seeing nothing. Deb's life, which just moments before had been started anew, now lay shattered and broken with a pain so deep inside her heart that the pain from the shot doesn't even register.
To lose one's love by watching them die is so final and tragic that the mind can only scream in hopes of stopping time to make it not so. Frank's death changed Deb forever.
