How I Met Your Mother

"Ted!"

"Coming!"

Robin had finally taken over the entire master bathroom.

"TED!"

"I said, I'm coming!"

Ted ran up the stairs, noticing Penny had left her book on the top step, outside of her bedroom door, again.

Ted pounded his fist on her door. "Penny wake up, you're going to be late for school!"

"TED, I SWEAR TO GOD!"

"I said I'm coming, Robin! Do you not hear me in the hall?!"

Ted finally stepped into the bathroom; the puppy had peed everywhere.

"You know, Ted, when I agreed to move in, and get rid of the dogs, and get one puppy instead, one, Ted, I just - I just thought that I would be able to potty train it. But, now that I know I can't, I – I just feel like a failure. I do, Ted. What am I supposed to do with this – this thing?"

"Calm down, calm down." He washed her hands, pulled her through the hall, into the bedroom, and sat her down on the bed next to him. "Look, although the puppy didn't get trained within a week, a week, Robin, we can still train it, because," he wiped a tear off her cheek, he was sweet and smooth like that, "we, this, can work it out. We will train it – we will train the hell out of that puppy. I promise. I do." In one swift move, he kissed her.

"Okay," she whispered.

"Alright, good." He stood up.

"Dad!"

"Coming!" He walked out and stepped into Luke's room. "What the hell is this?" He looked around the room. It was covered in dirty dishes, clothes, and somehow, a dirty chair.

"Dad, I can't focus."

"Can't focus on what? Cleaning your room? Let's start there. Is that why we have no spoons?"

"Dad, up here." He motioned for his father to look up, but Ted didn't. "I think I need glasses."

Ted sat down. "Your mother used to have glasses. Reading glasses. She used to call them Spect, like Spock." He smiled so slightly, it was a grim, dark, sad, lonely, smile.

Luke sat down next to him. "I know Dad, I miss her too."

Ted sighed, and got up. He looked at his son, "I'll schedule an appointment with an optometrist." He stopped before closing the door, "Oh. And clean this crap up."

He walked across the hall, and knocked on Penny's door. "Honey, when are you planning to leave?"

"Like, five minutes, God stop bugging me."

Ted knew he wouldn't win an argument with an angry teen. He used the hall bathroom, and noticed a pad wrapper in the trash, no wonder she was extra temper mental.
