Peter drove - not a common occurrence. But, he could give up appearing generally lazy for a while if things were made sufficiently uncomfortable. 'Sufficiently uncomfortable' being Speng-glish for 'disturbed'. Which translated to woman means 'cuddles are needed'.

But 'cuddle me' doesn't exist between men, even if the man who had created the 'sufficient discomfort' had done so by being violently harassed and nearly drowned.

Of course Ray was taking it pretty well. Gripping both ends of a towel across his neck, coughing occasionally, damp against Peter's side as he was sandwiched by Spengler. His face twisted somewhere between excited and kicked puppy. If there was a name for such a face he didn't know, or want to know, what it was, because it was an ugly, disconcerting thing he never wanted to see again. Not on Ray.

Though at least he wasn't happy about it. Peter might have had to let those will-o'-the-wisps finish him if he had been happy about it.

At a stoplight he sighed and scrubbed a hand over his face, leaning on the wheel and looking over at Ray through his fingers.

Ray's lip twitched. If that was a smile...

"If you smile I'll kill you."

Which couldn't result in anything but a smile.

He made 'grabby' hands like he was going for Ray's throat, but thought better of it given circumstance. Instead he took Ray's head and shook him a bit before turning back to the road.

"It was... you know, actually, kinda-"

A prompt 'slap' of Spengler's hand over his mouth.

Simple subtle gestures to lessen the psychological bruise.

Winston reaches from the back to scrub the towel over his head, leaving it hanging in his face. There aren't quite laughs and there aren't quite smiles from anyone save Ray, but it's better. It's okay.

Will-o'-the-wisps do different things depending on who you ask, but it is within general consensus that they're assholes.

In some myths they simply use offensive magic, in others they are the spirits of children, in others they possess dead bodies, and in others still they will grab any living thing they can drag and try to drown it.
