PORCINE INTERLUDE

Two shapes are visible against the night sky. Starlight and moonlight
outline their sillhouettes, leaning together. The head of the woman
rests on the shoulder of her beloved.
IF YOU DIDN'T CARE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME
AND I DIDN'T CARE FOR YOU
Silently, they watch the night sky together, thinking of the times past
and the things yet to come. The dark-haired youth recalled the days when
he didn't have to worry about being more than the teenager Mamoru. When
he wouldn't be caught dead in a tuxedo outside of a formal dinner.
WE WOULD ZIG-ZAG OUR WAY THROUGH THE BOREDOM AND PAIN
OCCASIONALLY GLANCING UP THROUGH THE RAIN
The starlight reflects in the clear eyes of his companion, who sighs
deeply and thinks about the peace that is destined to be hers. The
future reserved just her and her true love...who was no more than an
inch away.
WONDERING WHICH OF THE BUGGARS TO BLAME
AND WATCHING FOR PIGS ON THE WING
But what was she supposed to do now? Run around like an idiot to kill
monsters? Sacrifice all the years of her youth for what a talking cat
asks her to do?
YOU KNOW THAT I CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU
AND I KNOW THAT YOU CARE FOR ME TOO
But she couldn't just let the creatures overrun Tokyo...and of course,
she wouldn't have found her soulmate without these strange circumstances.
SO I DON'T FEEL ALONE
OF THE WEIGHT OF THE STONE
And his thinking was somewhere along the same lines as Usagi's.
How was he supposed to go on, day after day, letting his life slip
away as he fought with a cane and a rose? How incredibly dorky.
NOW THAT I'VE FOUND SOMEWHERE SAFE
TO BURY MY BONES
Pausing for a moment, they glanced at each other, and imagined a
life without each other, waiting for an uncertain future. Well,
one that was less certain than the one they already faced.
AND ANY FOOL KNOWS A DOG NEEDS A HOME
Looking for answers in each other's eyes, but only finding tears,
they wrap their arms about each other and hold on. Holding on for
their lives and the fate of the world.
A SHELTER FROM PIGS ON THE WING
