The Master Chief and his fellow surviving Spartans (Fred, Kelly, Linda, Will, and Dr. Hasley for medical support) and a few marines that survived Halo and were not infected by the Flood, were sent on a mission. Just after Halo blew up, Captain Keyes installed a secret and encrypted message in Cortana's hard drive, that had sent them on this suicidal mission.
The Message instructed them to send any available marine to earth because, some how, he knew that Cortana would find the plans to destroy earth from the Covenant command ship on Reach. The message also said that the Spartans were suppose to go onto any Covenant Ship and destroy it.
"Spartans, Marines Lock and Load", As the Master Chief ordered it, he heard clicks of new magazines being put into Assault rifle and pistols. He also heard magazines of snipers being put in and Shotguns getting loaded. "marines here's the plan", for the next five minutes the Chief explained the plan. After he finished, Cortana went into a private com channel with the Chief. "Are you sure this will work?" Cortana asked. "of course it always does." The Chief said.
"Alright, Cortana open the hatch doors, I'm sure we will have a welcoming party" the Chief yelled through his COM. "opening hatch doors". The hatch doors opened and Plasma bolts sizzled through the opened door. The marines and Spartans dived for cover. 5 Elites about 8 Grunts and 3 Jackals opened fire. "Linda, get to the top hatch and take out the Elites, we will take care of the Grunts and Jackals!" the Chief ordered. Linda's acknowledgment light came up on the Chief's heads up display. The Chief waited until he heard sniper shots and Elites screaming. "Marines, Spartans Suppressing fire, Fred take your shotgun and get behind them, then start running to the door and take out any enemy's in your way," the Chief ordered. "Yes sir" He answered.
After They took care of the Grunts, Jackals and Elites, the Master Chief and the other Spartans started looking for Fred, the Chief saw on his Heads up display that Fred Biosigns were going down, they had to find him. They went wear they had last seen him.
The Master Chief went into the door. The he heard something he entered into his com and Said "proceed with Cau…. That was the last thing he said before an energy blast hit him and drained his shields
