Happily Ever After

It was a warm, sunny day. Nessi was outside playing with Jacob. It was still a bit strange for Bella that the man who had half of her heart was in love with her and Edward's daughter. But imprinting was out of everyone's countrol, much like regular non-obsessive love.

She had been a vampire for six years now. It was nice, having forever.. but she would have to watch Nessi and Jacob both grow old and eventually leave her behind. She had Edward, but even he would not be able to pick up the pieces after she lost her daughter. Bella decided she would not dwell on it until the time actually came. It would be quite a few years yet, but to a vampire 12 years passes by incredibly fast.

She felt a strong pair of arms wrap around her waist. "What do you look so pensive about?" Edward asked.

"Mm, nothing.. Just thinking about Ness," she said, turning around to kiss him. He cupped her face in his hands and sweetly kissed her back. It was moments like this, where she could hear Nessie's laughter, that almost made her forget all of the pain. Of course, her pain was nothing compared to Emmet's. Emmet was completely different now that Rosalie was gone. Nessie was the only one who could get a genuine smile out of him, but even that was forced.

Six years ago a battle had broke out between the Cullen clan and the Volturi. The Denali coven had helped.. but they lost Irinia in the process. The wolves, thankfully, survived unscathed.. Bella was able to protect them all using her power. But she was so focued on them and Edward that she didn't notice when Alec was moving towards Rosalie. He was too fast, and it was too late. She would never, ever forgive herself.

"Bella, nobody blames you. You have got to stop feeling so guilty," Jasper said quietly, suddenly appearing out of no where. Bella sighed.

"I can't help how I feel, Jazz," she said quietly, looking down into her hands. Edward held her closer, squeezing at her middle.

"He doesn't blame you at all, you know. He blames himself," Jasper said. "He thinks it's his fault, because he taunted Alec.."

"Well, that's just stupid," Bella snapped. "He couldn't have done anything!"

"And neither could've you, Bella. It's been six years. Stop blaming yourself," Edward said, his sweet breath caressing her ear.

"MOMMY! MOM, MOM, MOM, MOM, MOM!" Nessi screamed, running into the house. Bella pulled out of Edward's arms and swallowed back the venom that came whenever her daughter was around. "MOM MOM MOM MOM MOM!!"

"You're awfully small to be so hugely irritating," Edward teased.

Nessi stuck her tongue out at him. "Mom, Uncle Jake wants to take me to the movies, is that okay? Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleassssse?" Nessi did her best to look cute and pout. Bella melted. She could never say no to Ness, especially when Jake wanted to do something sweet for her.

"Yes, fine, go ahead," Bella smiled. Nessi turned on her heel to run back outside to Jake. "Hey, you're forgetting something!" Nessie furrowed her brow for a second and then ran over to Edward and me.

"Thanks, mom!," she kissed me on the cheek and then hugged Edward. "Bye, daddy!" She spun around and ran outside. I heard the rusty door on Jake's old truck slam and then the sound of the engine turning on.

"You did good with her, you know that, right?" Edward asked, pulling her back onto his lap. Bella rolled her eyes. "Me? I'm just making stuff up as I go along. You're the one who read s parent books and can read her mind to actually know if you're screwing up or not. She likes you better," Bella pouted.

"You look just like her when you do that," Edward smiled, kissing her hair.

"Don't you mean she looks like me? I am her mother, after all."

"Oh, of course," Edward chuckled.

Bella's eyes darkened suddenly and she swallowed. "Six months, Edward.. just six months until..."

"I know, love," he said darkly. "It will be all right."
