I really don't know where this idea came from. Nevermind, I do. I'm not normally all angst-y, but this idea appeals a lot to me. Basically, I'm going to go through all the playable characters in Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, as they appear, and write a chapter on their thoughts right before the die (or in some cases, in the middle of dying). Although I like the idea, I'll probably have a hard time writing this story because I become too attached to all the characters. ;_; One more thing to clear up, none of these chapters connect with one another. Eirika may die in one, but the next she'll be alive again. If... that make sense.
And also, this is really the only Fire Emblem game I've played. Don't get me wrong, I love Fire Emblem to death, but if you start talking about any others, I'll have no idea what your talking about. If you do have a suggestion on which game I should try and play next though, go ahead and let me know.
Disclaimer- I do not own Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones or any characters from the game.
Eirika
"Brother... I'm sorry."
It was simple, really. The goal was to go out and rescue her brother, not that he needed rescuing. It was an excuse, just to be with him after all this mess started. But still. She was rash, not waiting to check her supplies, didn't rest up. She didn't heed Seth's warning, not to go into battle unless absolutely needed. Her only thoughts were to save her brother, to be with her brother again. She really wasn't concerned about what was happening at the moment, here, in the battlefield. And now?
It was too late.
Wasn't a special weapon, or anything. No poison, or silver. Just an iron, at best steel, sword. And it was strange, she took in every detail about the weapon that was able to find that one gap in her armour. A plain hilt, dull grey from the use. How many others were done in by this same sword? In the same spot? The same gap? Was she the only one stupid enough to go get run through by this blade, or was she just the latest of countless beings and many more to come?
The dullish edge entered and left her stomach, all in one swift movement. One second she was standing, looking for a fight, and the next she's on the ground, gasping for a breath that won't do her any good. Her rapier left her hand as the sword left her being, and now lay cold next to her. But not forgotten. The beautiful piece of crafted metal, was anything but forgotten. She stared at it trying to sort out her frantic thoughts. Seth gave that to her, to protect herself, and she didn't. She had not only failed Ephraim, but Seth too.
And everyone else, everyone under her rule. She failed them. Franz, and Artur, and Ross. She failed them all because even though she wasn't dead, nothing was going to save her. Even she was not that optimistic. And she would stared at that rapier until she was dead because she needed a reminder that she had failed him, and the rest. But loved him enough that it gave her peace.
It was painfully simple. She was on her mission. Her killer was on his mission. One of them had to fail and it was, sadly for her, her time to fail.
It really was simple. Carelessness, and a sword. Even a dull one like that can kill.
It was simple. She loved him, loved him enough to die for him.
"Brother... I'm sorry."
Yeah. So, any criticism would be nice. Praise would be nice too. Actually, reviews in general are nice. I don't update if I don't think anyone is reading my stories. Just an FYI. ~Ann
