Final project RDG 301

My story is in reference to Wayne's World, when Wayne and Garth get invited to the radio studio to have a look around before their first show begins. Garth has just finished humorously introducing all of the snacks on the sponsors snack table.

Wayne walks by Garth to go find the bathroom and runs into two security guards, both ominously staring at him. He stops and glares back at them, immediately Garth runs over and yell, "Whoa! It's Larry and Big Red, legend has it that these radio peace-keepers Guard a secret room, one that no man would ever want to see!". "I see two doors bro" says Wayne, "And one of them I NEED TO GO TO NOW!" Wayne, smiling awkwardly and turning back to Larry and Big Red, begins to ask them where the bathroom is, yet before he gets two words out, Garth Screams "WAIT! They will only answer one question, and one of them always lies, and the other always tells the truth." "Gnarly!" says Wayne, "Which one tells the truth?" Garth answers in a long, mystical voice, "No one knows."

Wayne looks down for about five seconds then, with a bit of confidence and a slightly smug look on his face, asks Larry, "Hey there mi-amigo, if I was look' in for el banyo, which door would Grande Rojo over there tell me to take?" The Guards glance at each other quickly, and then Larry looks back at Wayne and quickly jerks his head to the left, signaling his answer. Wayne slaps him on the back a couple times and proceeds to walk into the door that Larry did not refer to. Garth's eyes light up just before a long awkward pause between him and the Guards. A flushing sound is heard just before the movie picks up again in the recording studio.

Reasoning

Wayne knew the secret as to how he could be sure which door would lead him to the bathroom. The reasoning is easily understandable through a case-by-case technique. Wayne did not know if Larry always lied or told the truth. First case, Let's say Larry was the Liar, then he would have told Wayne that Big Red would tell him to go into the door that would lead him to the bad place, since that is what is not true, because Big Red would really have told him where the bathroom was, since Big Red in that case would have been the truth teller. So Wayne would have to go into the door that Larry did not direct him toward. Second Case, Let's say Larry was the truth teller, and then he would have told Wayne that Big Red would tell him to go into the door that went to the bad place, since Big Red would actually do that since Big Red would be the Lair in this Case. So Wayne again would have to go in the door that Larry did not direct him toward. In either case, Wayne can be sure he will reach the bathroom if he chooses the door that Larry does not direct him toward.
