"I AM NOT LETTING AN ELITE RUSSIAN ASSASSIN STAY IN MY TOWER" Tony bellowed at Steve who looked torn between exasperation and amusement.
"If that's true then why do you let Nat live here?" Natasha looked up from her tablet, looking confused and bored.
Tony glowered at the blond. "She's different" he said stubbornly, "She was my assistant and keeps Pepper from murdering me. I hardly know anything about him!" He gestured vaguely at Bucky, who was standing in the corner, quietly observing what was unfolding before him.
Of course at this moment Clint and Thor walked in, still decked out in full mission gear. They both ignored the quiet figure, placing their favored weapons on the futon. Tony scowled at them both.
"You do realize that the point of the weapons room is to leave your weapons there, right?" Clint just shrugged and plopped down next to Natasha.
"It's too far. And the food is up here" Tony threw up his hands in exasperation and turned his back on the pair of assassins on the couch.
"I am still not letting him stay here. I don't care who you knew in the 1940s, this isn't him. Hydra has reprogrammed his brain and who knows what might set him off." and with that Tony stalked off.
Thor decided in that moment to open his mouth. "I do not understand the issues. We are powerful beings and can stop him together should he be 'set off'"
Tony turned around, his face burning red with anger. He started shouting at the pair of blonds, which set off Clint and Natasha to start yelling at them all to shut up. None of them noticed that Bucky had started to venture further into the center of the room.
He walked silently, carefully listening to the commotion while looking at the weapons Clint and Thor had dropped earlier. He carefully looked at the bow and quiver. He knew better than to pick up the weapons of a S.H.I.E.L.D assassin. Instead he turned his attention to the hammer that sat haphazardly on the cushions.
Slowly, he gripped the handle, slipping his hand through the loop and tugged. He was surprised to see that it was far lighter than what it appeared to be. But maybe it was just his superhuman strength that was helping him. He carefully inspected it, looking at the carvings on the side and edges. As he inspected the hammer, he noticed that the yelling had stopped.
Looking up, he saw everyone staring at him. Steve looked like a proud mother, Thor looked shocked and the pair of assassins looked faintly amused. It was Tony's reaction though that was the strangest. He looked slightly pained and shocked at the same time.
Looking at each Avenger, he felt a little worried. "What's wrong?" He winced at how raspy his voice was from disuse.
When no one answered him, he slowly set down the hammer, worried that he had done something wrong. Finally Steve turned to Tony with a smug grin plastered on his face. "That enough proof that he's good enough to live here?" Stark just grunted, seeming to still be in shock, and turned on his heel, stalking towards his work shop. They could hear a faint stream of obscenities coming from him.
Slowly, everyone left looked at Bucky. He stood perfectly still, a perfect image of a cool and collected agent. Turning to Steve, he raised a questioning eyebrow. Chuckling, he walked to Bucky, gently tugging him to an empty room.
"Come with me," Steve seemed to be ecstatic, "I'll explain everything to you." As they walked away, Clint and Natasha turned their attention to Thor, both looking amused. Quickly, Thor swiped up his hammer and walked away in a random direction as both agents started to laugh him. They would never let him live this down.
