A/N: This is my first fanfic ever, so comments appreciated!
And nothing belongs to me, instead it belongs to ACD, Moffat, and Gatiss
She had no clue what she was thinking when she told him. Maybe it was that she just so happened to have a surge of courage at that exact moment. Maybe she had just gotten tired of him not noticing her. She didn't know why she was so worked up by it, but when he had just stared at her, his eyes seemingly searching her after she said those three words, her heart just shattered. As she turned to bite back the tears welling in her eyes, she thought about how she knew that she never really had a chance with him, after all he distanced himself from emotions and anything else regarding that part of human nature.
Truthfully, it had surprised her when he had become friends with John, because he was always so cold. But yet, she still loved him. From the first time he had walked through the doors, and asked her to see a body for a case, she knew that her heart belonged to him. Between his sharp cheekbones and piercing blue eyes, his mind, and his confidence in everything he did, she knew there was no where to fall but down.
She supposed that by telling him these feelings, it would change everything between them, but she honestly had no clue if it would be for the better, or for the worse. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice that he had left, and that sitting next to her was a cup of coffee, and as she took a sip, noticed it had two sugars and just the right amount of milk. It was then she decided that while it might not be a drastic change, it was a change in a good direction.
