Why don't I feel complete? I killed Itachi and Orochimaru, yet I don't feel satisfied. It feels like there's more to life. Sasuke lay on the grass under a cherryblossom tree, wondering why he wasn't satisfied with the life he was living. He was planning on heading back to Konoha, and yet it seemed like it wasn't enough. I have all the power I could possibly want. I'll finally be seeing Naruto, Sakura and all my other friends that I left behind, but I still want more.
Just then, Karin walked up to Sasuke with a slight blush and sat down beside him, apparently a small book in her hands. She glanced at the cover and handed it to Sasuke, hoping he could tell her what it was.
"U-um, Sasuke? C-could you tell me what this book is?" Karin said in her usual deep voice, trying to keep her composure in front of Sasuke. Sasuke looked at the book Karin was holding. It looked thick and old and it was starting to fall apart. Sasuke took the book and looked at the cover with a blank face. Holy Bible is what the cover read. Sasuke grimaced. Nothing can be holy, especially a book. Sasuke thought. He absent-mindedly opened the book and started to flip through the pages. He stopped on a page and read some of it.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ever-lasting life.
Sasuke thought about that line for a minute before Karin spoke.
"What does it say?" Karin asked. Sasuke drew in a long breath.
"Nothing. You may leave." Karin hesitated, but eventually broke away. Sasuke looked at the book again and read the first page.
Genisis 1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth didn't have any shape. And it was empty. Darkness was over the surface of the ocean. At that time, the ocean covered the earth. The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Sasuke raised an eyebrow and continued reading.
3 God said, "Let there be light." And there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good. He seperated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day." and the darkness "night." There was evening, and there was morning the first day. 6 God said, "let there be a large space between the waters. Let it seperate water from water."
Sasuke shook his head and closed the book. This was too much. He stood up and carried the book back to his room. He was only slightly interested in it. But he had a strange feeling about this "Holy Bible". He couldn't quite put his finger on it, though. Sasuke was still thinking about that "John 3:16" line. Ever-lasting life. That seemed like a great thing, but he didn't understand the rest of the line. He glanced at the book once more before setting it on his bed and walking out of his room and heading towards the library to read up on religion.
I want to understand that sentence a little more, and hopefully I'll have this "everlasting-lasting life". Sasuke thought. He walked into the library and looked for the Religion section. He found a book explaining the same book that Karin gave him. He sat down in a chair, opened the book and started reading. He read for a few hours.
Sasuke finally understood why he wasn't complete.
