Alex: hey! this is my first attempt at poetry for Death Note! I'm relatively new to Death Note fanfics(this is my first one ever) and Death Note in general. I may have left some details out, and for that, I'm sorry. I purposely didn't include Mello and Matt's friendship in this because I wanted it to be centered solely around Matt, not because I forgot. Okay, so...Hey, Near!
Near: Yes?
Alex: Will you say the legal disclaimer, please please please? *insert puppy dog eyes*
Near: Fine. Alex is, in no way shape or form, claiming to own-nor does she actually own- Death Note, or any of the characters in it. Myself included. We all belong to Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.
Alex: Thank you! *turns to reader* now that that's taken care of, go ahead and read my poem!

Hey you. Yes, you.
You with the hat.
Let me tell you the tale of a boy.
This boy's name was Matt.
He was about this tall,
and about this thin.
What do you mean,
you've never heard of him?
I can't say that I'm shocked,
this doesn't come as a surprise.
Though he was a good kid,
he never caught the public's eye.
His story starts off sad,
and ends that way, too.
Because poor little Matt was the orphan,
that no one ever payed much attention to.
He grew up in a place called Wammy's House,
his true name never spoken.
But still through it all, young Matt's spirit
was one that could never be broken.
His beginings were filled with sadness,
and his demise was no better.
And all that is left of him,
Is a stone, engraved with one letter.
No name, no date.
No "R.I.P."
Nothing to honor the boy,
who gave his life for you and me.
Just a pathetic stone.
With one pitiful letter.
M.
Just an 'M' for the boy, who helped make this world better.
Where is the justice?
How is this right?
It's hard to believe this all happened
because of a boy named Light.
But that is a tale
for another time, my friend.
But before you go, let me leave with you the name
of the boy who met too early an end.
Mail Jeevas.

Alex: okay, I for one think that that was amazing, but it doesn't really matter if I think it's amazing, or just okay. what do YOU think of it?
Near: I thought it was meaningless and trivial.
Alex: *ignoring*I have a rule for my stories/poems: You read it, you review it. So R&R! NO FLAMES! any and all flamers will be turned into apples and given to Ryuk!
