Her doorbell rang in a Saturday morning. She found him, with a big sling bag in tow and a somber look upon his face when she opened the door.
"They slept together."
She didn't ask any other questions, and just ushered him in. He didn't even need to askâshe quickly took him to the spare room, which she had just cleaned a few days before. He sat on the bed, again confiding on her, telling her how he had seen Elena walking out of his brother's room, reeking of Damon. This time she only listened, not making any sassy comments, and placed her hand on top of his. She gently rubbed it with her thumb.
He asked if her mother would mind him staying there while they were arranging his clothes in the cupboard.
"She's never home," she said. "She'll be happy to know that I got myself a bodyguard to look after me while she's out."
He laughed, playfully smacking her arm. It sent a cheeky grin and a warm feeling to her heart, knowing she had succeeded in making him laugh.
"Just make sure you pay me every month," he teased
She tilted her head to the side, a smirk playing on her lips. "Would hamsters work? Because my cousin left two of his when he visited last week."
