A lone wolf trotted along, his grayish fur rippling in the soft breeze.
Give me a reason to believe that you're gone
I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong
Remus Lupin knew where he was going, the same place he had gone to for the last few months, since it happened. The only thing he lived for, stolen away from him.
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
They took you away from me, but now I'm taking you home
He dodged trees, leaping over soft mounds of earth. The light of a full moon was shining through the trees, casting a speckled spotlight on him. He reached a large oak tree with a split down the middle and took a left. He was in a large hilly meadow now, and he broke into a choppy canter, his paws slipping on the slightly wet grass.
I will stay forever here with you, my love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
Remus spotted a lone tree, a lighthouse to his destination. As he rounded another hill, he slowed his pace, taking in the gleam of moonlight reflecting off the glossy tombstones of a small graveyard. He spotted the familiar stone, the one he had come for, the third stone from his lookout near the large tree. He slowly made his way to that spot, facing the front of the stone and reading the large block lettered name:
LILY EVANS POTTER
It wasn't fair. It just wasn't fair.
Some say I'm crazy for my love, oh my love
But no bonds can hold me from your side, oh my love
Being near to her, not physically, but he could almost feel her in the air around him. He felt and saw her always, when he spotted a sea of red hair in a crowd or when he smelled the warm scent of vanilla that reminded him of her shampoo, his self longing for her.
They don't know you can't leave me
They don't hear you singing to me
Even now, he remembered her last words to him. Telling him that he couldn't keep coming, that James would suspect something; telling him to just let go. But he couldn't.
I will stay forever here with you, my love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
He circled before lying down next to the grave. Lying there, his troubles were lifted for a moment, and the blackness that had so recently enveloped his life wasn't so dark.
And I can't love you anymore than I do...
