Headcanon: Never let me go. (Peeta's POV)
And the lights are on.
I'm at the beach in District 4 with Katniss Everdeen, the love of my life. I, Peeta Mellark, promised long time ago to love her with all my heart. I am his and she is mine.
The sun today is very bright; the ocean is there, waiting for us. Katniss is sleeping beside me, but I'm not in the mood to sleep. I'm just looking this beautiful paradise.
"Is the scenery beautiful?" Katniss asks.
"I thought you were sleeping." I reply.
"I was. Would you like to answer my question?"
"Yes and yes, this is almost heaven."
"Almost?" Katniss says looking at me.
"Pardon my mistake, this IS heaven." I say and then kiss her.
"Let's walk to the water! Come on!" Katniss says, stands up and offer me a hand. I accept her help and quickly I am on my feet. We begin to walk holding hands.
After a couple of minutes, Katniss stops in front of me and looking me straight in the eyes.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"Nothing is wrong, not yet," she answers.
"What you mean not yet?"
"Peeta, you need to promise me something. Would you?"
"Of course!"
"Never let me go."
"No matter what," I reply and give her a long deep kiss with my eyes close.
When I open my eyes again, she disappears. She is not there anymore.
Back to the present. That was a dream. A dream that will never be true if the Capitol keeps doing what they are doing. My name is Peeta Mellark. I was twice in the Hunger Games. I love Katniss Everdeen, but that will change.
Venom. Katniss. The Games. Mutts. More Venom. Katniss.
I'm never going to forgive me for letting her go. It's my fault, she was there and me too, then I let her go to somewhere I don't remember and gone. She is gone, because of my fault. Now, I will never see her again. Not alive and sane. I'm walking away, I know. But no matter what those four words still on my mind and they are tormenting me.
"Never let me go."
And the lights off again.
