In the middle of one of Rivendells lavish gardens stood Drean, an Elf of about 2000 years. All around, flowers blossmed in reds, pinks, blues and golds. The garden was filled with lush plants and rare flowers that grew only in this garden. But the plants where not Dreans focus. On one side of the garden stood a fountain with a small stone bench next to it, and standing beside the bench was an elven maiden of uncommon beauty.

There she stood, the beautiful Elriel. Her voice soft an light as a breeze, yet powerful as a hurricane. Her long, aubern hair pulled back into a flowing braid that reached almost to the ground. Her light green eyes always sparkling with a hint of mischief. More thoughtful and kind than any other, willing to do almost anything to help a friend….

Drean stopped. The list could go on, but now was a time for action, not wondering. Drean lived in Mirkwood, but at the first visit to Rivendell, the young elf had wished to live there. The elleth Eriel had dazzled Drean with her kind manner and gentle, yet strong, beauty the first time they had met. Drean had loved Eriel since that moment and for centuries after. The young elves had long been friends, but today Drean wanted to, hoped to, become something more.

Drean approaches Eriel, hands shacking, nervous about a possible rejection, but Drean stilled the nerves and decided it was better to ask now and know, than to wait for eternity uncertain. The elf took the last few steps and stood next to their beloved.

"Eirel, I have something to ask you…" Drean began.

"Yes Drean?" replied Eriel with a dazzling smile. Drean hesitated, but then plowed on, not wanting to wait any longer. Drean got down on one knee and reached out for Eriels hand. Hoping silently that the world was not about to end for the two of them.

"Elreil, from the moment I met you I have been in love with you. I love your intellect, your beauty, your laughter, your kindness. I will love you forever and always..…. I must ask you…

could you love me too?"
