Deep Sleep

Deep Sleep

Deep under the covers, he sleeps,

Afraid of what beneath the shadows, creeps.

Afraid, lonely, after all these years,

Never allowing a hint of tears.

Of what do the dreams speak,

A normal life that couldn't repeat?

Losing his brother, his one true peer,

Expected to receive the news with a warrior cheer.

Ever wondered how much he gave?

Being the leader, bold and brave.

Never uttering defeat, our paths he silently pave,

Until he steps down, into his own grave.

The door to his heart, slammed shut,

His words unspoken, his emotions cut.

Into his nature, nobody could peek -

But now showing by the shining pearl, rolling down his cheek.
