Disclaimer: Obviously don't own this. Seriously.

A/n: Yet another prompt-inspired wee one-shot. This one is for Christina and Burke, and doesn't have any specific timeline – though obviously at some point when they're together before things… get wrecked. Prompt was "Fingers".

Fingers

She's often so surprised by how it fits.

In the beginning she wasn't aware that she was showing in any way that she liked him – very much, at least. She wasn't someone who ever got crushes on guys. She wasn't someone who cared, at all, about other girls and their various crushes. Perhaps because she rarely liked a guy, she didn't realize she was broadcasting it on her face and in her eyes.

When she realized he liked her back, she expected to feel her usual freak out at the possibility of commitment though nothing had yet happened between them. It didn't come. Liking him fit, like it was supposed to happen, like it was always meant to be.

He kissed her for the first time in the on-call room and their lips fit perfectly together. She absolutely loves how their lips fit together.

Months later, he gave her a key to his apartment. That had sparked some of her usual freak out. Yet, being in his bed, in his arms, was the most incredible feeling. Again, it fit, like two incredibly designed puzzle pieces that had finally found their other half.

Most of all, despite all their numerous and vast differences, she loves how their fingers interlock and fit together. She enjoys studying his long, dark fingers wrapped around her pale, slender ones.

Though her relationship with Burke continues to surprise her, she knows she never could and never would trade it for anything.

Christina smiles and thinks, Except maybe a super rare and excessively grotesque surgery. She squeezes his hand and snuggles beside him just a little closer.

A/n: Short and sweet. :) Thanks for reading and reviews are like oxygen.
