We're Only Siblings in Blood
Maybe if we had spent more time
together, your absence would not bring
my poor heart to a fluttering ache
Or maybe we were destined
to love each other anyway
And I prefer that; a romantic tale
of brother and sister in love against all odds
except without the trials that follow
because I know they tear away
at your soul.
I am not all the world to you
but I wish I was – then you'd be deaf
to those whispers, blind to the eyes
that follow you around, and impervious
to the door our mother shuts in your face
But if she doesn't see you
as a son, how can you be a brother
to me? You're not; you cannot be –
The only brotherly thing you've done for me
is chase the boys away…
and let's face it; a boyfriend would do that
just as well.
We're only brother and sister in blood
in the end, and I cannot bring myself to care
Setsuna.
When snow melts, it becomes
a spring of water
and I am that water
Setsuna.
