The whole drive up, Rose couldn't stop thinking what she would say to him. If, that is, she would actually get to see him again. Her dreams, him calling her, it was so real, but she still didn't dare trust herself enough to get her hopes up. But she had to see. And she had to be prepared for anything. She had a lot to tell the Doctor.

Remember that night? It was just a bit before the Battle at Canary Wharf. The party on Limnos 4? Rose practiced in her head, how she'd break the topic. Just in case. I know you don't think I remember that night...but I do. It was a hell of a party, too. Banana Daquiris flowed freely, thanks to the Doctor (always bring a banana to a party). But Rose was nowhere near as drunk as she had let him believe. She guessed that he wasn't so drunk either. But, if they had been sober, he wouldn't have let it happen. And they both wanted it to happen so badly. Doctor...I will never forget that night. And not just because it was...so, so good. Better scratch that bit. Don't want him getting a big ego. Well, bigger ego. I can't forget because... Oh how could she tell him? He wasn't exactly the domestic type. How would he react?

After the eternal car ride, they arrived. This was it, the beach from her dream. Dalig Ulv Stranden. As she looked around, she wasn't sure what was supposed to happen. It was just a beach. Then, suddenly, there he was. Hazy as a ghost, but still him. Her doctor. The father of her unborn child. He explained what was happening, how he was burning up a sun just to say goodbye. She asked how long they had. "About two minutes."

Suddenly, she came out with it. "There's five of us now. Mum, Dad, Mickey...and the baby."

His eyes lit up as he smiled almost imperceptibly. "You're not?" Was he wondering...hoping...thinking of that night?

But she lost her nerve, and shook her head. He was leaving, they had, what a minute left? How could she do that to him? Tell him he was a dad, then let him lose everything, again? She forced a laugh, "No. It's mum." Her insides were going to explode. She made another joke, maybe. She wasn't sure. She couldn't think straight anymore. All she could do was cry. Finally she squeaked out, "Am I ever going to see you again?"

"You can't."

"What are you gonna do?"

"I've got the TARDIS," he smiled faintly. He had so much more than he could ever know. His words just brought on more tears.

"I—" The words caught on her throat. "I love you!"

Before he could reciprocate his feelings, he was gone. Vanished. Forever.
