He ran and ran and ran, form the Intel-room right up to the battlements where he leap and spread his wings, instinctively pushing his legs with his wing flap and running along the old roof on the bridge, he again flaps across to the opposing balcony and prepares to face anyone in the room outside their spawn. Hence why he took pause when he heard crying.

Her crying.

Rushing in he spots his little orange filly back to him in the hay covered corner, purple tail wrapped around herself, hoofs at her face.

"Scoots? What are you doing here!?" he calls going to her, yet she keeps crying.

As he reaches for her, he hears the resapwn room door open, spinning around he sees nothing, but he keeps eyes trianed on the room, taking up a protective stance in front of her.

Concentrating as he was, he failed to note that she stopped crying.

He hears the sound he dreaded come from right behind him, he spins back around to be met with a revolver barrel, but has no time do anything else as the trigger is pulled.

Soarin' bolts up in the bed, gasping for air, the pony beside him stirs, sitting up a bit the Yellow stallion asks,

"Y'all alright Blue? Have a nightmare?"

Soarin' calms himself, looking at his coltfriend, finding peace in his eyes.

"Yeah Braeby, just a nightmare, just a nightmare..."

He looks away, thinking more on it, was it just a nightmare, or was it something more? A warning perhaps?

'Nah, probably just a dream is all"

"But, just in case it comes back..." He ends openly.

Braeburn rolls his eyes,

"Oh come here you, I'll snuggle the nightmare away"

And so they fell asleep in each other hooves.

But the press never sleep, as a flash comes from outside their window.

-Morning-

"Just gotta make a call, then I'll head off" Soarin' says nuzzling Braeburn

"Remember to lock the door on your way out, and write more often, I miss you a lot when your away" Brae replies, nuzzling back before turning to leave for his day at work "Love you Blue"

"Love you too Braeby!"

'Now to call the other I love'

-An Orphanage not too far from Ponyville-

"Despite all the arrangements, all the letters, all the visits. It's not enough. You know that right? You've got enough money to build yourself a Life-Extending Machine and keep it stocked for centuries! So get your flashy quick-hoof flank back here and raise your Daughter!"

...

...

...

"She's bullied you know. She lives in an orphanage, bad enough, And your kept a secret so the press don't make a fuss. Can't even defend herself through violence, I've taught her better. I'VE TAUGHT HER! She can't fly, I can't help her, she needs you, your flight strength is in her, not me, She needs you to teach her."

...

...

"Yes, Rainbow Dash has been trying. But that's not the point"

...

"It's time to leave Soarin'. And now you chose whether it's your incredibly successful career, or your daughter"

The old Griffin hangs up the phone, sighing to himself, he heads out of the office, unaware of the small orange filly hiding in a cabinet.

She crawls out, having hear all the things her 'Uncle' had said, trying her best to hold tears back.

"Why Papa?" She says looking at the phone "When are you coming home. What keeps us apart" She ask the room, feeling a few tears roll down her check, she leaves the room to go prepare for school.
