Peach cracked open her eyes. The sun burned directly overhead as she found herself laying in a field. Tears filled her eyes as the memory of the dead Smashers came back to her.
She stood up, with minimal balance, and used her parasol for balance. "Finally." a voice said. It was somewhat deep with a force of anger within it. She almost recognized it instantly.
"Lucario!" she said, turning around to look at the blue, fox-like Pokemon. He smiled as they locked eyes for several seconds, both recalling the events of the previous day. "Where are we?" she asked, slowly walking towards him.
"It appears," he said deeply, without moving his lips. Like many Pokemon, Lucario could 'speak' using his psychic abilities. "That we're in Dream Land." he said, gesturing toward the area behind him. As Peach climbed up the small hill, Lucario's idea became clear, as a large tree with many apples and a face loomed up out of the ground and stared forward.
"Wow." Peach said, as it was the only word that she could get out of her mouth. Her large blue eyes clouded with fear as she thought about everyone else. "Do you think everyone else is okay?" she asked, looking down.
"It's hard to say." Lucario grumbled. "Like us, they could have been thrown through time and space, coming to rest at their current locations."
Peach sighed as her hair brushed in front of her right eye. "I hope they're okay."
Link frowned as he trudged through the murky green water. Why did I have to get paired up with this lame-o? he thought, glaring at Marth from over his shoulder. Both the swordsmen had a gaggle of words floating through their minds-their mission. The key must be found. Work together. echoed throughout their minds, as a large forest loomed over them. "So," Link said, breaking the eery silence that hung between them. "Where do you think this 'key' is?"
"Who cares?" Marth replied as he looked at the giant surroundings.
"Don't you want to go home?"
"Why do you want to?"
Link grumbled as the words raced through his mind. "So I could get away from you."
"You have no friends left, because Zelda's dead, Ganon's dead-there goes your girlfriend and entertainment-and the Link from another dimension is also dead." Marth said, smiling calmly as he did. "Who do you have left? Tingle." Marth chuckled as those last words left his mouth.
Link sighed. As much as I hate him, he thought, angrily. He's right. The Ordon kids are the only ones I have left...
...and Ilia.
