It was night in Ogygia, but Calypso couldn't rest. She walked the rocky shore of her paradise, nothing but a beautiful prison, and tonight she could feel its was the heroes that kept her awake, all of them had come back to haunt her on this night. The moon glowed softly overhead and the stars twinkled, a warm breeze rustled the roses and caught in the fabric of her dress. But it was a dark and cold night for the daughter of Atlas.
The stories made her seem dark, but love can twist the mind. Love was what she felt for Odysseus. For Percy.
Her invisible servants draped a shawl around her shivering shoulders. She looked out to the dark horizon, would dawn ever come? Or would she be alone in the dark for ever?
The air shimmered in the shallows of the lake.
"A visitor." She was excited, yet apprehensive, She hadn't had a visitor since Lord Hepahestus last summer. Since Percy had left. Everyone was busy with the war.
The shimmer solidified into the form of a man holding a caduceus and walking toward the shore. He stepped onto the beach and the wings on his shoes flapped about, getting rid of the water.
"My Lord Hermes," Calypso bowed.
"Dear Calypso," The messenger god smiled.
"I would imagine that you have important news. What message do you bring?"
"Message, no one ever cares what I have to say." He mumbled. "You have been set free."
"What?" Calypso's heart felt like it might beat out of her chest. She felt heavy, torn, yet happy and light enough to be carried away on the breeze from the garden. It was like a wave crashing into her, flooding her and knocking her over. She didn't believe what she was hearing. "I can . . . leave Ogygia?"
"Yes," Hermes smiled.
"But, why? What has happened?"
"Percy Jackson,"
"He's," She faltered. "He was here, last summer. I. . . He was Poseidon's son, he was badly injured, I remember."
"He saved Olympus from Kronos. He turned down our offer of immortality to have the demigods claimed, and so you and other peaceful Titan-kind could be freed."
She stumbled backward. "He- he remembered me."
"I must go, fare well." He shimmered and vanished.
"Free." She mused, and continued down the shore.
