One day on Destiny Islands, Sora is forced to clean his room. Of course, Sora doesn't want to clean his room because, you see, he was just about to go meet Riku and Kairi to hang out, but then his mean 'ol mom has to go and stop him from having fun. She says to him, "You are not going anywhere until that room is clean, young man!" and her finger is pointed at him and her other hand is on her hip and she has that menacing look in her eyes, so Sora knows he has to stay at home or it will be bad news for him.
But, being the lazy teenager that he is, Sora decides to procrastinate. He definitely doesn't want to actually clean the room, but he HAS to, so why not just do it later? It doesn't need to get done right this second, right? So Sora chills out on his bed and stares at the ceiling for a bit, then goes over to his desk and sits and stares at the wall for a bit, then looks out the window and observes the sun and the nice clouds and he starts to get anxious. So he calls Riku.
Riku is kind of huffy that Sora is still at home and isn't enjoying the lovely day, but he still manages to get pulled into some kind of conversation. They talk about the weather, about what they should do later, about Wakka and Tidus and Selphie, about sparring, and somehow the conversation turns to Kairi. Riku talks about how he hasn't seen her since yesterday (and oh how long ago that was) and tells Sora he's going to go get her and they're going to go hang out. He then tells Sora that if he doesn't come, it'll be his loss because Riku will be all alone with her and who knows what could happen and--
Sora hangs up the phone.
He then proceeds to stare down his clothing-infested floor, wishing it to clean itself, but the clothes remain stationary and the floor remains covered. He sighs and flops back on his bed. What to do, what to do. On one hand, he could clean his room and go have fun with Kairi and make sure Riku hasn't violated her yet; on the other hand, he could sit around and waste away his day and not clean his room until right before bed.
Sora is lazy, but he isn't really that lazy, and he knows that Kairi has to be saved from that monster. So, he does the responsible thing, and slowly but surely begins to pick up the randomly scattered objects from the imprisoned floor. One shirt over there, one sock over here, one action figure over this way, and what is Riku doing to her?!
Sora is incredibly anxious now, so he picks up the phone and calls Riku. Riku answers in a slightly mocking voice, about to say something like "Yes, I am cooler than you because you're stupid and would rather procrastinate than come hang out with me and Kairi," (at least, that's what Sora thinks he would say), but Sora cuts him off with a hasty, "Oh my god you killed Kairi!"
His imagination had gotten the better of him, you see.
Riku pauses for a few seconds before replying with a "what?" and then Sora knows that he's being stupid and he hangs up again.
But only a few seconds later, Riku calls him back. "What the hell was that?" he asks him, his voice impatient and confused. Sora sighs and responds and with an apology, he was freaked out that Riku was doing something to her and he wanted to make sure nothing bad was happening, but his words came out funny. Riku laughs at him, but then says in a low, husky voice that makes Sora blush a little, "How do you know something bad isn't happening?"
Sora hangs up the phone and immediately sprints out of the house toward the island, leaving his half-cleaned room and the shouts of his mother behind.
