Jason Black has only ever understood one thing about Tess Tyler.
He doesn't get her standard operating procedure.
He doesn't get her motivation.
He doesn't get her mommy issues.
And he most certainly does not get her odd fascination with gold jewelry.
But he does understand why she loves Shane Gray.
They are too much alike, Shane and Tess.
Bluntly, they are both attention-seeking whores.
But she is loyal ("Nate is Shane's friend. And Shane's friends are my friends. So back. The fuck. Off.")
And he is kind ("This is for family, Baron. So your mom can see all she's sacrificed for. You nail this, you show them, you make her proud.")
And if she shines, ("Ladies and gentlemen, Tess Tyler!") then he glows.
And if he falters, ("Shane, how many drinks have you had?") then she is constant.
Jason does not understand why Shane understands her.
He doesn't understand why Tess lets him.
("Do you love him?")
But he understands the curve of her lips as he ask the question.
("More than you can understand.")
Hey, this is my second CR fic. I'd love if you review, but I love that you've read, too.
