So Obvious

A/N: Here's a little Drabble-y ficlet. So…I just posted Close Your Eyes, Close Your Heart. And in similar fashion, I found this in one of my files one paragraph in. I was suddenly struck with inspiration. So here's this little Drabble. It's about a C x B relationship but it's from Serena's point of view. It goes from Victor, Victorla to Much 'I Do' About Nothing up until the ONE WEEK LATER thing. So no Amelia…at least yet. Enjoy! R&R! Thanks! –Mac

So Obvious

I know my best friend. We've been through good and bad and down right ugly—but I know her, probably better than anyone. So when she started to lie about her relationship with Nate I knew. I didn't let on that I knew because Blair liked it better that way. Blair liked to think she had control over every situation she encountered. God forbid I should take that away from her over a few white lies she was telling more for her own benefit than anyone else's.

Then there was the secret affair with Chuck. Of course I knew about it. Please, I wasn't the only one who knew and never said anything. Blair thought she was good with secrets and when it came to other people's secrets—which she didn't generally want to keep anyway—she was. She was good at digging up people's deepest, darkest secrets and keeping them as long as it was to her benefit. She never exposed a secret unless she got something out of it—which wasn't as common as some might believe. But her own secrets—most people are too oblivious to notice, but I wasn't—they were displayed proudly in her eyes for the world to see. Of course the world didn't see, only I did. If someone knew her well enough they would have been able to see that her eyes were screaming "I'm sleeping with Chuck Bass!"

It got harder to read her after it was revealed that she had been with Chuck and Nate—and possibly impregnated by one of the two. It was hard for me to figure out which of the two men in her life she was more upset to lose. As time wound on though, it became so obvious.

She was over Nate. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have just sat back and watched as he and Vanessa started a tentative romance. No, she would have taken action to put a stop to that straight away if she was still pining after Nate.

Something had changed. She wasn't looking for a perfect happily ever after with Nate anymore. She still wanted Chuck and it seemed Chuck still wanted her. Blair was done with wanting the White Knight to tie up the loose ends of her fairytale, and Chuck was just the person to give her something new. And Chuck was done with the whole playboy façade and Blair was just the person to make him face his fear of commitment.

Those two are so transparent sometimes, or maybe it came from knowing them both for so long. Either way, they can try to fight it, they can say it's not true…but it's so obvious.
