Untainted memories

So, my first story on this site! This is a special dedicated to the Doctor's memories of Amelia Pond (someone he remembered even after he regenerated and couldn't remember people's names). Chronologically, this story is set a few hours after Last Christmas. I apologise in advance if it's too short for your liking!

Space, a vast vacuum of space that remained untainted for centuries. Its vastness featured intriguing planets and stars, irresistible to the Doctor ever since he was a little child. Now he stood outside the doors of his machine, the TARDIS while it thrummed silently as it passed through deep space.

His friend Clara Oswald had gone to bed hours ago (or was it minutes?) ready for more adventures to come. This thought brought a smile to the Doctor's face, he never got second chances. Immediately bored, the Doctor shut the doors closed and decided to wander around the TARDIS. Eleven dimensional time machines never failed to surprise the ancient Time Lord. The Doctor stopped outside a door that looked rusted and ancient as time passed so quickly for his hyperactive mind. He pushed the old door open, wondering why he made his way to this room. Stepping inside, the man paused.

The room was filled with whimsical items dotted all around; varying from toy TARDIS's to the crib he slept in when he was a child. Admiring the collection, he paused when he laid eyes on a pair of red reading spectacles. The glow in his eyes diminished and he walked towards the glasses briskly. Finally understanding why he subconsciously led himself to this room, the Doctor laughed quietly.

He led himself here because he remembered.

He remembered Amelia Pond, the girl who waited for him. He remembered how Scottish she was. He remembered crash landing in her garden when she was seven years old in 1986, before leaving her for twelve years. Despite those twelve years, she waited for him. She continued to wait for him every time he left her, knowing he would always come back.

He remembered taking her to so many exotic places like space Florida, he remembered how she stopped him from killing a Star Whale and Kahler Jex. Her passion was admirable. He remembered her shockingly long legs and coppery, red hair. Her remembered Amy's motherly kisses and all the hugs they shared. He remembered spending more than twelve thousand years of his lifetime with her.

He remembered the rage he felt when he realised she had been kidnapped and built an army to save her. He remembered how grown up she had become when she was robbed cruelly from him and how it hurt him.

The Doctor also remembered how Amy always haunted him. What hurt the most was that she was always waiting for him. Realising a tear had rolled down his cheek, he wiped it away slowly.

"Doctor, where are you?" Clara's voice echoed around the TARDIS. Realising he spent too long in the room, the Doctor put the glasses back next to a red bow tie. Human glasses used to be so trivial and pathetic to the Doctor, now they were symbolic of trust and hope and the home he found in the arms of Amelia Jessica Pond.

So he left the glasses, keeping his memory with her wherever he went. They would always stay and he would always look back fondly. He was her imaginary friend at first and in the end, she became his.

He would keep his memory of her untainted.
